Arkansas State Board of Health
Act 96 of 1913, A.C.A. 20-7-102 established the Arkansas State Board of Health. Board of Health members are appointed by the Governor and represent many organizations and professions concerned with public health. The Board is empowered to make all necessary and reasonable rules and regulations of a general nature for: protection of the public health and safety, general improvement of the sanitary and hygienic conditions within the state, suppression and prevention of infectious, contagious and communicable diseases, proper enforcement of quarantine, isolation and control of such diseases and proper control of chemical exposures that may result in adverse health effects to the public. The Arkansas Department of Health is the state agency which has the mission of protecting and improving the health and well-being of all Arkansans. The agency’s vision is to provide optimal health for all Arkansans to achieve maximum personal, economic and social impact.
Meetings are held quarterly on the fourth Thursday of the month in the Charles H. Hughes, O.D. Board Room on the 9th Floor of the Freeway Medical Building, Little Rock, Arkansas, at 10:00 a.m.
The Board may change the date of the meeting by majority vote.
